CVJV Connects With Sacramento-Area Community at 2026 Walk On The Wildside Event 

Every May, Sacramento Area Sewer District’s 2,100-acre Bufferlands comes alive with the sounds of migratory birds and the bustle of families exploring one of the Sacramento region’s most remarkable natural areas. In May, Central Valley Joint Venture joined the celebration at the annual Walk on the Wildside event, staffing an information booth to connect with community members and share what CVJV is doing to protect and restore bird habitat across the Central Valley.

Now in its 32nd year, Walk on the Wildside is a free, family-friendly event held in honor of International Migratory Bird Day. Visitors hiked trails through restored wetlands and oak forests, got close-up looks at wild animals, and explored exhibits from conservation organizations working across the region.

As a sponsor of the event, CVJV was on hand to speak to attendees about local bird and wildlife viewing opportunities and about the partnerships and habitat work that make the Central Valley one of the most important stopover and wintering areas for migratory birds on the Pacific Flyway.
